City of Chanhassen Notice of Commission Vacancies The City of Chanhassen is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on various commissions. Terms are for three years unless otherwise noted and no prior experience is required to apply. Application forms are available at City Hall, or apply online at www.ci.chanhassen.mn.us/commissions. Applications will be accepted through Friday, February 1, 2019. Planning Commission: This is an advisory body to the City Council that makes recommendations regarding site plans, subdivisions, special use permits, land use, and zoning regulations. The commission also provides input into plans and programs that will have a long-term impact on the community the Comprehensive Plan and special studies. They meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. at city hall. Three (3) three-year positions are available. Applicants for this commission must be available for an interview with the Planning Commission on Tuesday, February 19 in the early evening and with the City Council on either February 25, March 11 or 18 in the early evening Park & Recreation Commission: This commission acts as an advisory board to the City Council, reviewing all recreation, leisure, and park-related issues This includes park development, recreation programming, and implementation of the recreation section of the Comprehensive Plan. They meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at city hall. Two (2) three-year positions are available. There are also one or two youth representative positions available on the Park & Recreation Commission. These positions are open to high school students (ages 16-18) and are voting members of the commission. Terms of Youth Representatives are for one year. Applicants for this commission must be available for an interview with the Park & Recreation Commission on Tuesday February 26 in the early evening and with the City Council on either March 11 or 18 in the early evening Environmental Commission: This commission acts as a citizen outreach and education board for the City Council Issues addressed by the commission include water quality, forestry, storm water management, and water conservation education. They meet the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at city hall. Two (2) three-year positions are available. Applicants for this commission must be available for an interview with the Environmental Commission on Wednesday, February 13 in the early evening and with the City Council on either February 25, March 11 or 18 in the early evening Senior Commission: This commission examines the needs of senior citizens in the community. They review issues such as housing, information and referral services, transportation, and senior center operations. They meet the third Thursday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at city hall. Three (3) three-year positions are available. Applicants for this commission must be available for an interview with the Senior Commission on Thursday, February 14 in the afternoon and with the City Council on either February 25, March 11 or 18 in the early evening (Publish in the Chanhassen Villager on January 10, 17 & 24, 2019)
